FALLBROOK, Calif. -- All southbound lanes on a stretch of the Interstate 15 in Fallbrook are blocked off due to a fatal multi-vehicle collision, Caltrans said in a tweet.The accident occurred just north of State Route 76 around 3:15 p.m. Sunday. Three cars were involved, according to California Highway Patrol logs. One vehicle was overturned. Helicopter rescue prompted at Three Sisters Falls California Highway Patrol logs indicate that the collision was fatal, however, there is no information on how many deaths or other injuries.Major delays are expected through the area, according to North County Fire.FOX 5 has a crew headed to the scene. BIG BEAR, Calif. -- After five and a half months, Big Bear Mountain Resort has finally started to close its slopes for the season.The resort announced that Sunday was the last day to ski or snowboard at Bear Mountain for the season, marking the end of a historic winter at the Southern California mountain.Snow Summit, the other hill at Big Bear Mountain Resort, will remain open through the end of April for snow sports enthusiasts.Over the course of the winter season, Big Bear Mountain Resort saw over 240 inches of natural snowfall, as multiple winter storms pushed through the region. WAUKEGAN, Ill. — A man is dead after he was hit by a hit-and-run driver late-Saturday night in Waukegan, according to police. Waukegan Police Department officers were called around 10:15 p.m. to the 3000 block of Washington Street after people found the man in the roadway, according to a news release. Cause of death released for missing Navy sailor found in Lake Michigan The man, who hasn't been identified yet, was taken to a hospital where he later died, police said. During the investigation, officers said video footage shows the man trying to cross Washington Street southbound when a driver going eastbound hit him, according to the release.About 30 minutes after the man was hit, Waukegan police said the vehicle was reported stolen.About two hours later in North Chicago, officers found a vehicle matching the description with damage consistent with hitting the man, according to the release. NORTHBROOK, Ill. — A daffodil garden in Northbrook is in full bloom and it's part of a project to create a living Holocaust memorial at locations around the world. Last fall, seeds were planted on the JCC's campus in Northbrook. As the rivers in the state continue to rise after the melting of the third biggest snowfall in Minnesota history, Senator Amy Klobuchar said Sunday it appeared the state would “make it through the flood.”Klobuchar joined other officials, including St. Paul Mayor Melvin Carter, at Harriet Island on Sunday to give an update to flood predictions.She credited many reasons why it appeared the preparations to hold the rising river water back, including levees in St. Paul created years ago by the Army Corp of Engineers.“If we didn’t have these levees, it would be so much worse,” she said, noting that in St. Paul, the river had risen to 17.8 feet and was projected to rise to 18.8 feet.“If it got up to 19.02 feet it would be in the top 10 floods we’ve had in St. Paul history,” she said.
